What is locked, what is not
Both ends are ticketed. The middle, Mexico City to the Speedway, is open.
Mexico first, then the desert. EDC Las Vegas splits into two weekends in 2027, and the bookends point at the second one: Dawn, 21–23 May. The flights in and out are already ticketed, so the trip is built around them.
Down through Madrid, four days in Mexico City, three in Guadalajara, then north to Vegas with a day in hand before the gates open.
The whole fortnight
Four nights in Mexico City, three in Guadalajara, five in Vegas.
That leaves a full buffer day before the festival and a full day to recover after it. The flight home is not until Tuesday night.
- London, 12 May
- Madrid, 1 night
- Mexico City, 4 nights
- Guadalajara, 3 nights
- Las Vegas, 5 nights
- London, 26 May
London to Madrid
Afternoon departure from Heathrow T5, into Madrid T4S just after eight. One night in the city rather than a same-day connection, so a late Heathrow delay cannot touch the Mexico leg.
- Late dinner in La Latina or Malasaña
- Airport express bus or Metro line 8
A day in Madrid, then the Atlantic
A full day free before an evening departure. Bags at the hotel, back to T4S by mid afternoon. Business class on the way over, landing in Mexico City at quarter past ten at night.
- Prado or Reina Sofía
- Retiro
- Mercado de San Miguel
- Sol and Gran Vía
Mexico City, easy first day
The city sits at 2,240 m. First day out of a long flight is the one to take slowly, which mostly means walking a neighbourhood rather than climbing a pyramid.
- Roma Norte and Condesa
- Chapultepec
- Museo Nacional de Antropología
- Tacos al pastor
Centro Histórico
The old core, and the rooftops around the Zócalo for the view back over it.
- Zócalo and the Catedral
- Templo Mayor
- Palacio de Bellas Artes
- Torre Latino at dusk
Out of town or south of it
The one free full day, so it takes the big trip. Teotihuacán needs an early start; Xochimilco and Coyoacán are the gentler Sunday.
- Teotihuacán
- Xochimilco trajineras
- Coyoacán and Casa Azul
South to Guadalajara
Ninety minutes in the air. An early-afternoon nonstop keeps the Mexico City morning and still lands with the whole evening in Guadalajara. Options and prices in The gap.
- Dinner in Chapultepec Avenue
- Late tortas ahogadas
Guadalajara centre
Lower and hotter than Mexico City at 1,566 m, and much easier to cover on foot.
- Hospicio Cabañas
- Mercado San Juan de Dios
- Tlaquepaque
- Mariachi in Plaza de los Mariachis
Tequila
An hour out through the agave fields. Distillery tours run all day, and the last full day before the trip changes gear entirely.
- Tequila town
- Agave landscape
- Lake Chapala as the alternative
North to Las Vegas, buffer day
Direct, roughly three and three quarter hours, and the reason the whole Mexico leg works. US immigration on arrival at Harry Reid, then check in and do nothing.
This is the day that absorbs any delay, so it earns its place.
- Groceries and water for the week
- Collect wristbands early if they ship
- Sleep
EDC Dawn, night one
Opening ceremony at Cosmic Meadow from 17:00, grounds open 19:00 and run to 05:30. Sleep in the afternoon; the night does not really start until most people would be going to bed.
EDC Dawn, night two
Same 19:00 to 05:30 window. Days are for the pool and the air conditioning.
EDC Dawn, night three
Last one. Music ends Monday morning at 05:30 and the shuttles run an hour past the final set at Kinetic Field.
Nothing, on purpose
Deliberately empty. Three nights of 05:30 finishes need a day back, and the flight home is not until tomorrow evening.
Checkout, then the overnight home
Check out in the morning, a last day in the city, then Harry Reid T3 late. Club World back to Heathrow, arriving mid afternoon on the Wednesday.
London
Down at Heathrow T5 at 16:05, and a Thursday to recover before the week resumes.
Closing the gap
Mexico City to Guadalajara on the Monday, Guadalajara to Las Vegas on the Thursday.
Neither is scarce, but the first one shapes how much of the Mexico City morning survives.
Mon 17 May, MEX to GDL
| Departs | Arrives | Airline | Duration | Stops | Fare, 2 adults |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13:20 | 14:51 | Aeromexico | 1h 31m | Nonstop | $193 Pick |
| 12:00 | 13:18 | Volaris | 1h 18m | Nonstop | $264 |
| 15:15 | 16:47 | Aeromexico | 1h 32m | Nonstop | $193 |
| 17:00 | 18:33 | Aeromexico | 1h 33m | Nonstop | $193 |
| 18:05 | 19:41 | Aeromexico | 1h 36m | Nonstop | $193 |
| 20:25 | 22:00 | Aeromexico | 1h 35m | Nonstop | $193 |
| 05:30 | 13:15 | Volaris | 7h 45m | 1 stop, Tijuana | $171 Avoid |
| 12:45 | 20:50 | Volaris | 8h 05m | 1 stop, Tijuana | $171 Avoid |
Take the 13:20. It leaves the Mexico City morning intact, lands mid afternoon and gives a full first evening in Guadalajara.
The three cheap Volaris fares all route via Tijuana, which is the far side of the country: they save $22 across two people and cost six extra hours and five times the emissions.
The 12:00 Volaris nonstop is the fastest in the air and the most expensive on the ground. Fares shown are one way for two adults, cabin bags only, so add checked bags for a two week trip.
Thu 20 May, GDL to LAS
Direct and frequent on Volaris, Viva Aerobus and Aeromexico, around 3h 40m, so there is no connection to miss on the day that matters most.
Two things to weigh when picking the time: US immigration at Harry Reid on arrival, and a Vegas check-in that will not be ready much before late afternoon.
A late-morning departure lands early afternoon and clears both without a wasted day. Book this one before the Mexico City hop, since it is the leg that cannot slip.
EDC Dawn
The reason for all of it: Dawn is 21–23 May, at the Speedway.
2027 is the first year EDC Las Vegas runs two weekends instead of one, at a deliberately lower capacity.
Dusk is 14–16 May, Dawn is 21–23 May, and landing in Mexico City on the night of the 13th settles the question on its own.
Official shuttles are the only ones with their own route to the gates and a lot next to the festival, and they run from hotel lots rather than the Speedway.
Return service does not start until 02:00, so leaving early is not really an option once you are out there.
Set times usually land a few weeks out, which is when the three nights stop being interchangeable.
What else sat near each shuttle stop
Vegas is booked for 20–25 May. Here is what else Airbnb showed.
Airbnb showed these for the same five nights and the same headcount, within about a mile of each official shuttle pickup, pulled 22 Sep 2026.

Wyndham Grand Desert is a 3BR King Suite at $1,610, the cheapest listing at this stop. The booked stay is free to cancel until 2027-04-20, so it is worth a look before then.
Open items
Roughly in the order they bite.
Two weeks, three climates
Altitude, weather and the practicalities.
Altitude 3
- Mexico City, 2,240 m. Enough to feel on day one after a night flight. Slow first day, more water, less alcohol than feels natural.
- Guadalajara, 1,566 m. Noticeably easier.
- Las Vegas, 610 m. Effectively sea level, which is a gift before three nights on your feet.
Weather in mid May 3
- Mexico City. The hottest stretch of the year and the very start of the rains. Warm afternoons, sharp evening showers, cool nights.
- Guadalajara. Hotter and drier, low thirties by day.
- Las Vegas. Mid thirties in the afternoon and dropping hard overnight. The Speedway at four in the morning is genuinely cold.
Practicalities 3
- Money. Pesos in Mexico, dollars in Vegas. Cards are fine in both cities, cash still matters for markets and taxis.
- Time. Mexico City and Guadalajara are both UTC−6 in May; Las Vegas is UTC−7. Only an hour between them, so no real adjustment.
- Nights out. The festival runs to 05:30 three nights running. The Monday after is protected on purpose.
EDC Dawn 2027, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Las Vegas, 12–26 May 2027. Flight times are local.
The two Mexican legs are unbooked and the fares shown were captured in August 2026, so treat them as a shape rather than a price.
